Catenaa, Thursday, November 05, 2026- Bloomberg Intelligence projects that US exchange-traded funds will attract a record $2 trillion in net inflows in 2026.
Based on a recent study of ETFs, Bloomberg Intelligence expects US ETFs to attract $2.03 trillion in net inflows in 2026, up from $1.5 trillion in 2025, a 35.3% increase year on year.
Moreover, Bloomberg Intelligence expects ETF trading volume to rise 35.5% to $80 trillion in 2026, while new fund launches are forecast to increase 30.1% to 1,460.
Bloomberg Intelligence’s projections follow 17 consecutive months of monthly inflows exceeding $100 billion, showing sustained investor demand for ETF products.
It also said US ETF assets under management have grown to $15.9 trillion.
Bloomberg Intelligence also raised its global exchange-traded fund asset forecast to $50 trillion by 2035, compared with its previous projection of $35 trillion.
The research also forecasts global ETF assets reaching $36 trillion by 2030. The upward revision follows rapid industry expansion, with assets rising from about $11 trillion in June 2023 to $24 trillion in 2026.
Bloomberg Intelligence attributes 44% of the increase to investor inflows and 56% to rising market valuations.
However, despite these record inflows, Bloomberg Intelligence findings show that 85% of ETFs launched in 2026 were classified as unprofitable, compared with 60% of the 2025 launch cohort and 41% of the 2024 cohort.
The findings highlight the commercial challenges facing newly introduced ETF products despite the industry’s rapid expansion.
The ETF launch-to-closure ratio remained above four in 2026, indicating that new fund introductions substantially outnumbered closures.
