Catenaa, Thursday, October 08, 2026- Blue Origin will likely pursue an IPO within the next several years, Jeff Bezos said after raising $10 billion from external investors.
“I see the financial future of Blue with some clarity now,” Bezos told Fox News on Wednesday at the company’s Florida factory, according to Bloomberg.
Bezos said it would take years for Blue Origin to have an IPO, but added that it probably makes sense for Blue Origin to be a public company at some point.
According to Bloomberg, Bezos has bankrolled the company since its founding, funnelling $28 billion into its rockets, spacecraft and other initiatives.
Bezos also told Fox News that Blue Origin may take in more outside capital beyond the $10 billion it is raising from external investors for the first time.
According to The Wall Street Journal, the recent funding round valued Blue Origin at $140 billion.
Blue Origin launched its $10 billion fundraising from external investors in July, and Coatue Management anchored the round with a roughly $4 billion commitment.
The raise marked the first time the company had sought funding from sources other than Bezos.
Last week, Blue Origin CEO Dave Limp said the round is oversubscribed, as investor demand has exceeded the amount the company sought to raise.
Among the projects drawing investor interest are TeraWave, a planned low Earth orbit satellite communications network, and Project Sunrise, a constellation of roughly 56,000 satellites designed to handle artificial intelligence computing from orbit.
Bezos also said that the company’s New Glenn rocket is expected to fly again in December.
Blue Origin is racing to return to flight after an explosion in May destroyed its rocket and launchpad.
An eventual IPO would turn a major space company into a direct investment vehicle, according to Reuters. SpaceX, which listed in June, remains the sector’s dominant player.
