Catenaa, Friday, February 20, 2026- Tomasz Stanczak will step down as co-executive director of the Ethereum Foundation at the end of February, less than a year after assuming the role under a reorganized executive structure.
Bastian Aue will take over as interim co-executive director alongside Hsiao-Wei Wang.
Stanczak’s tenure focused on integrating AI, agentic systems, and institutional finance into Ethereum, positioning the network as a trusted infrastructure for stablecoins, real-world assets, and automated financial transactions.
He highlighted Ethereum’s neutrality, decentralization, and reliability as key factors attracting institutional adoption.
During his leadership, the foundation released two protocol upgrades in 2025, developed a quantum strategy and post-quantum security roadmap, and strengthened coordination across Ethereum Layer 2 teams.
Stanczak also emphasized improving organizational transparency, treasury policies, and local hub support while accelerating decision-making for ecosystem growth.
The foundation plans a merged LEAN Ethereum and core development roadmap for 2026 to guide protocol development and scaling initiatives.
Stanczak said he will remain active in the ecosystem, focusing on agentic development, governance, and support for builders and local communities.
