Catenaa, Saturday, August 15, 2026- Robinhood has begun rolling out cryptocurrency trading inside its main UK investment app, using Bitstamp to bring more than 50 digital assets alongside stocks and other investment products.
The launch means eligible UK customers can trade Bitcoin, Ether, XRP, HYPE and other cryptocurrencies without moving to a separate crypto platform.
Bitstamp UK Ltd., which is registered with Britain’s Financial Conduct Authority as a cryptoasset service provider, will handle the crypto trading service. Robinhood acquired Bitstamp for about $200 million last year.
The integration is another step in Robinhood’s effort to turn its retail trading app into an all-in-one financial platform rather than operate crypto as a separate business.
UK customers already have access to equities, options, futures and stocks and shares ISAs through Robinhood. Adding crypto puts digital assets directly beside those traditional investments.
Robinhood said it will initially charge no crypto trading, custody or account maintenance fees. Customers will, however, face a 0.1% foreign exchange fee, rising to 0.3% for some weekend currency conversions.
Crypto assets held through Bitstamp UK do not receive protection from the Financial Services Compensation Scheme or the Financial Ombudsman Service, according to Robinhood.
The company is also introducing an AI-powered feature called Cortex Digests for Crypto. The system analyzes news, market information, technical indicators and Robinhood data to explain factors influencing individual cryptocurrency prices.
The UK expansion comes as Robinhood’s business increasingly stretches beyond the trading model that made the company popular with retail investors.
Its Robinhood Chain, an Arbitrum-based Layer 2 blockchain launched July 1, has generated more than $18 billion in decentralized exchange trading volume and surpassed $840 million in total value locked, according to company figures.
The UK launch also arrives as crypto becomes a smaller share of Robinhood’s transaction-driven growth.
Crypto transaction revenue fell 38% from a year earlier to $100 million during the second quarter. Prediction-market revenue reached $156 million, overtaking crypto for the first time.
Overall net revenue nevertheless rose 32% year over year to $1.31 billion, while net income increased 48% to $573 million.
Robinhood’s UK strategy therefore reaches beyond adding another trading product. By putting stocks, crypto and increasingly blockchain-based services within the same ecosystem, the company is testing whether the next generation of retail investors still sees a meaningful boundary between traditional markets and digital assets.
