Catenaa, Wednesday, August 26, 2026- Injective has expanded its US tokenization push after affiliate Injective Institutional Services became a Securities and Exchange Commission-registered transfer agent, giving the blockchain ecosystem a regulated role in securities ownership records.
Transfer agents maintain official records identifying security owners. They also record ownership changes and support distributions, voting rights and other corporate actions.
The registration moves Injective beyond providing blockchain infrastructure for issuing and trading tokenized assets. Its affiliate can now support regulated records behind securities ownership and transfers.
Injective said blockchain technology could allow ownership records to update alongside settlement. SEC staff has previously said registered transfer agents may use distributed ledger technology for official securityholder records if federal requirements are met.
The company is combining the registration with Injective Mint, its platform for creating and administering tokenized assets. The system includes controls covering eligible holders, jurisdictions, minting, redemption and restricted transfers.
Injective said the combination gives its Layer 1 ecosystem regulated infrastructure to support institutional tokenization. Claims about its position as the first blockchain with such capabilities remain company assertions.
The network already supports several real-world asset projects. These include tokenized investment products and markets offering exposure to private companies such as OpenAI and SpaceX.
Injective also expanded into trade finance in July through a pilot involving South Korea’s POSCO International and LG CNS.
The registration arrives as banks, asset managers and blockchain companies increasingly test tokenization for securities issuance, ownership records and settlement.
