Catenaa, Wednesday, April 22, 2026- Palantir secured a $300 million Blanket Purchase Agreement from the US Department of Agriculture on Wednesday, aiming to support the National Farm Security Action Plan (NFSAP).
A statement from the Agriculture Department said that the agreement will also modernize how the USDA delivers services to America’s farmers.
Palantir said it will provide operational software to enable the USDA to improve service delivery for farmers and government field staff.
The agency is working on a number of things to improve fraud detection, supply chain oversight, and service delivery across its Farm Production and Conservation operations.
The BPA will build on Palantir’s existing work with USDA’s “Landmark” platform, and will support the “One Farmer, One File” initiative.
The statement noted that Landmark is enabling USDA to transform how farmers report acreage through self-service digital tools.
“Protecting America’s farmland is protecting America itself, and this work gives USDA the visibility and speed needed to safeguard our food supply,” said USDA Chief Information Officer Sam Berry.
Palantir said that its software will help speed up things like payments and disaster relief, as well as make it easier for different systems to share data.
The USDA’s Landmark platform, which has features for online registration and acreage reporting, is already being used by the startup.
The deal builds on work that has already been done together, like helping with a multibillion-dollar program to help farmers that started this year.
Palantir shares went upby 3.5% on Wednesday, but still the stock is down by over 14% so far this year.
The deal shows that the government still wants data analytics systems, which is a big growth area for Palantir as it moves beyond defense and into commercial and public sector uses.
Investors will probably look for more contract wins and income from comparable deals in the next earnings report.
