Catenaa, Sunday, June 21, 2026-The global private mobile network market has crossed a major milestone, with more than 2,000 organizations worldwide now operating dedicated LTE or 5G networks as enterprises increasingly seek secure, high-performance wireless infrastructure.

According to new data released by the Global mobile Suppliers Association (GSA), 2,003 organizations across 88 countries had deployed one or more private mobile networks by the end of the first quarter of 2026.

The figures only include deployments valued above €100,000, highlighting the growing scale of enterprise investment in private wireless connectivity.

The sector has expanded rapidly over the past six years.

GSA data shows private mobile network deployments have grown at a compound annual growth rate of 37% since 2019.

During the first quarter alone, 48 new enterprise deployments were added.

An additional 178 projects valued between €50,000 and €100,000 were also identified, indicating continued momentum among smaller organizations.

Industry analysts attribute the growth to increasing requirements for secure data transmission, industrial automation, artificial intelligence applications and connected operational technologies.

Despite growing attention around 5G, LTE remains the dominant technology in private network deployments.

The GSA identified 1,369 organizations using LTE-based private networks.

However, 5G adoption continues to accelerate.

A total of 974 deployments now include 5G technology, either as standalone installations or alongside LTE infrastructure.

Pure 5G deployments account for 30.3% of customers, up from the previous quarter.

The report noted that many 5G projects remain concentrated in testing environments, universities and research facilities rather than full-scale industrial operations.

Private mobile networks are increasingly being deployed in manufacturing, logistics, mining, energy, transportation and government sectors.

Unlike public mobile networks, private networks offer dedicated coverage, enhanced security, lower latency and greater operational control.

These advantages are becoming critical as industries automate operations and connect larger numbers of sensors, machines and autonomous systems.

The GSA reported that many deployments remain confidential, particularly within defense, maritime and critical infrastructure sectors.

More than three-quarters of identified networks are not publicly disclosed.

One of the latest examples emerged in Oman, where the Port of Salalah announced the country’s first fully managed private 5G network.

Developed in partnership with telecom operator Omantel, the network is designed to support automation and improve logistics efficiency throughout port operations.

The project is expected to encourage similar deployments across ports, industrial facilities and transportation hubs throughout the Middle East.

The United States remains the world’s largest private mobile network market, followed by Germany, the United Kingdom, China and Japan.

Canada recorded the fastest growth among major markets during the first quarter, expanding 5%.

The UK followed with 4% growth, while the United States recorded 2% and Germany 1%.

The report noted that successful deployment is closely linked to the availability of dedicated spectrum and supportive regulatory frameworks.

Industry participants expect demand to continue rising as governments allocate more spectrum for private LTE and 5G use.

Private wireless networks are increasingly viewed as a cornerstone of Industry 4.0 strategies, enabling factories, ports, utilities and logistics providers to build highly connected and automated operations.

The emergence of artificial intelligence, digital twins and autonomous systems is likely to further strengthen demand over the coming years.

Crossing the 2,000-deployment threshold marks a significant milestone for the private mobile network industry. While LTE remains dominant, 5G adoption is steadily increasing as enterprises seek greater control, security and performance from their communications infrastructure.

Private mobile networks are dedicated wireless systems operated by enterprises, governments or institutions rather than public telecommunications providers. Unlike traditional cellular services, private networks are designed for specific operational requirements and often support industrial automation, robotics, logistics management and mission-critical communications. The technology gained momentum during the early stages of Industry 4.0 and has become a strategic investment area for telecom vendors including Ericsson, Nokia, Huawei and Samsung. Analysts expect private wireless infrastructure to become a major component of enterprise digital transformation programs throughout the remainder of the decade.
