Catenaa, Tuesday, December 16, 2025- YouTube now allows US-based creators to receive payments in PayPal’s PYUSD stablecoin, Fortune reported Thursday.
The move builds on YouTube’s existing partnership with PayPal, which in the third quarter of 2025 began offering bulk-payment recipients, including independent contractors, the option to receive payouts in stablecoins.
PYUSD, pegged to the US dollar, was launched in 2023 and has a market capitalization of $3.9 billion, with $113 million in 24-hour trade volume as of Dec. 12.
The option currently applies only to US creators but could expand PYUSD adoption on a platform with more than 2.7 billion monthly users.
YouTube has paid creators over $100 billion in the past four years, highlighting the potential reach of the stablecoin.
PayPal has also integrated PYUSD into its wider ecosystem, allowing users to hold the stablecoin in Venmo and convert other cryptocurrencies to PYUSD for payments to small businesses.
The stablecoin market has expanded globally, supported by US regulatory measures including the GENIUS Act, prompting other countries such as the UK, South Korea, and Japan to introduce rules promoting local stablecoins.
The broader market capitalization of stablecoins currently sits near $300 billion, with projections from US Treasury officials suggesting it could grow to $3 trillion by 2030.
