Catenaa, Friday, November 28, 2025-SKALE has launched an Ethereum Layer 3 network on Layer 2 Base to support AI-focused applications and agent workloads.
The network, called SKALE on Base, combines SKALE’s scalable infrastructure with Base’s liquidity, users, and onramps.
The platform targets agents using the Coinbase-incubated x402 payment protocol. It allows agents to operate across multiple EVM blockchains without relearning gas models or user interfaces.
SKALE Expand, the multi-chain deployment system, enables core SKALE smart contracts to run on other EVM chains while maintaining gasless transactions, instant finality, and privacy features.
SKALE on Base introduces a credit system for compute resources. Users can prepay with USDC or SKL, eliminating the need to manage gas for onchain applications.
The network is designed to provide a consistent environment for agents and AI users across different blockchain ecosystems.
Earlier in 2025, SKALE launched the BITE Protocol to prevent malicious MEV activity, including front-running, sandwich attacks, and sniping.
Layer 3 deployment adds functionality not efficiently supported by Layer 2 chains while retaining the security and liquidity of parent layers.
Tuesday’s launch marks the first deployment of SKALE Expand, which aims to allow agent code and x402 flows to run across multiple blockchain ecosystems with a unified execution environment.
The initiative connects multiple L1 and L2 chains, keeping users and liquidity on their home networks while expanding the reach of SKALE’s Layer 3 capabilities.
