Catenaa, Saturday, October 18, 2025- Ripple and blockchain security platform Immunefi have launched a $200,000 “Attackathon” to test and secure the proposed XRP Ledger (XRPL) native lending protocol, ahead of a validator vote later this year.
The Attackathon invites global security researchers to identify vulnerabilities in the upcoming XRPL Lending Protocol.
Participants will undergo training which began October 13, with the bug bounty competition running from October 27 through November 29.
The initiative aims to strengthen XRPL infrastructure, ensuring developers and institutions can safely deploy credit products on the network.
If approved by validators, the protocol will enable pooled lending and underwritten credit directly on the XRPL. It is designed to connect borrowers with global liquidity while allowing lenders to earn yield on idle assets.
The system also integrates with existing risk and compliance frameworks to enhance transparency and efficiency in institutional credit markets.
RippleX Head of Product Jasmine Cooper highlighted the importance of rigorous testing before launch, noting that lending represents a key step in XRPL’s institutional DeFi roadmap.
Immunefi CEO Mitchell Amador said the program leverages top-tier security expertise to safeguard the network and reinforces the firm’s mission to protect critical Web3 infrastructure.
The Attackathon represents a growing trend in crypto governance, where collaboration between protocol developers and security specialists is used to preemptively identify weaknesses in emerging financial applications.
