Catenaa, Monday, October 06, 2025- Pakistan’s Minister of State for Crypto and Blockchain, Bilal bin Saqib, met with US crypto advisor Patrick Witt at the White House to discuss deepening cooperation in blockchain and digital assets.
The discussions focused on joint innovation, policy alignment, and opportunities for Pakistan to leverage US expertise in the crypto sector.
Saqib highlighted Pakistan’s growing role in global crypto leadership and stressed that collaboration with the US would strengthen bilateral relations while accelerating technological development at home.
He framed the engagement as a “remarkable day for Pakistan in Washington” and underscored the country’s commitment to modernizing its digital economy.
The visit follows Saqib’s meeting with Kazakhstan’s Minister of Digital Development, Zhaslan Madiyev, at the United Nations General Assembly in New York, where he proposed the idea of a potential UN resolution on Bitcoin.
Speaking on the sidelines of the assembly, Saqib emphasized the importance of emerging economies influencing global AI, blockchain, and digital governance frameworks. He suggested that Bitcoin could become part of a global UN discussion, noting that current resolutions focus on climate, peace, and sustainable development.
Pakistan currently ranks third on Chainalysis’ 2025 Global Crypto Adoption Index, with over 40 million citizens actively using digital assets for remittances and other financial services.
The government has also announced a Bitcoin Strategic Reserve, citing the initiative as a policy tool rather than a speculative investment.
Saqib credited the US for shaping Pakistan’s crypto strategy and expressed optimism that enhanced bilateral cooperation could set a model for emerging markets.
