Catenaa, Wednesday, October 22, 2025- New York City Mayor Eric Adams established the first-ever mayoral office dedicated to digital assets and blockchain, aiming to foster compliant crypto innovation and connect government with the industry.
The Office of Digital Assets and Blockchain will be led by Moises Rendon, who has overseen the city’s digital asset initiatives for more than a year.
It will coordinate with state and federal agencies, support compliant crypto projects, and help attract talent to keep the city competitive in financial innovation.
Adams highlighted the economic opportunities of blockchain, including expanding access for underbanked communities and streamlining government services.
The office will encourage responsible use of digital assets while promoting policies that align with legal and regulatory requirements.
During his term, Adams has promoted crypto adoption, including taking his first three paychecks in Bitcoin and hosting the city’s first crypto summit.
His tenure ends this year after he suspended his re-election campaign due to campaign finance challenges and media speculation.
