MetaMask Token Buzz Grows After Claim Portal Leak

Catenaa, Saturday, November 01, 2025-Speculation over a potential MetaMask token surged Monday after a link allegedly pointing to a token claim portal appeared online, sending PolyMarket odds for a MASK token launch to 35%.

It remains unclear whether the portal is officially connected to MetaMask or Consensys.

MetaMask, the Ethereum-focused wallet incubated by Consensys, has previously hinted at issuing a token to support platform decentralization.

CEO Joe Lubin said in September that a MASK token “could come sooner than you would expect,” signaling potential movement toward community governance.

The supposed claim site uses a password-protected Vercel Authenticator, a common method for hiding sensitive content. MetaMask has cautioned users to avoid unverified links.

Director of Product Christian Montoya noted that the company is launching a loyalty program distributing $30 million in rewards, with points earned via trading, referrals, and potentially for MetaMask Card and mUSD transactions.

Co-founder Dan Finlay emphasized that any token launch would be announced directly through MetaMask, not via third-party messages, social media, or email, warning that outside speculation could expose users to phishing risks.

The MASK token concept dates back to 2021, when MetaMask engineers explored issuing a token to increase community ownership, echoing DAO-style governance. Analysts say that if launched, MASK could accelerate user engagement and expand decentralized control within the wallet ecosystem.

MetaMask has not confirmed whether the surfaced portal is official, leaving speculation and market positioning active ahead of potential announcements.
