GoTyme Bank adds crypto trading for 6.5M users

Catenaa, Thursday, December 11, 2025-GoTyme Bank launched crypto trading for 6.5 million customers in the Philippines through a partnership with US fintech firm Alpaca.

The feature supports 11 assets including bitcoin, ether, solana and polkadot. Purchases convert from Philippine pesos to US dollars inside the mobile app.

The bank said the product targets first time buyers who want simple access without external platforms. GoTyme started in 2022 as a joint venture between Singapore’s Tyme Group and the Philippines’ Gokongwei Group.

User growth has been steady due to fast onboarding. The same quick account setup now applies to crypto purchases.

Executives plan to expand into Vietnam and Indonesia.

They said the company is prioritizing user growth over short term earnings. Southeast Asia continues to see rising digital banking activity and growing interest in crypto assets.

The Philippines ranks ninth on Chainalysis’ 2025 Global Crypto Adoption Index. Lawmakers are drafting measures that could change public access to blockchain systems.

One bill would log all national budget data on a public network for tracking by citizens.

Another bill proposes a strategic bitcoin reserve of up to 10,000 coins with strict rules on liquidation.

GoTyme may add more crypto assets in future updates.

The bank has not said when tools for advanced traders could arrive. Officials said the current launch is built for basic buying and storage for everyday users.

GoTyme Bank introduced in-app crypto trading for 6.5 million users while officials in the Philippines consider public sector blockchain bills.
