Catenaa, Monday, May 11, 2026-Solana Foundation and Google Cloud have launched Pay.sh, a new payment system allowing AI agents to buy and use APIs using stablecoins on the Solana blockchain, according to a joint announcement Tuesday.

The system is designed for the expanding “agentic economy,” where autonomous AI tools interact directly with digital services without human-driven accounts or subscriptions. Pay.sh enables AI agents to discover, access, and pay for cloud-based services in real time.

The platform uses the x402 protocol, an open payment standard developed with Coinbase involvement, and is also compatible with Stripe-linked Machine Payments Protocol. The setup allows agents to connect Solana wallets to AI systems including Google Gemini and third-party platforms.

Through Pay.sh, AI agents can access Google Cloud services such as BigQuery, Gemini models, and Cloud Run through an API proxy that processes authentication and payments automatically. The system removes the need for traditional accounts or recurring subscription fees.

According to the announcement, agents can pay fractions of a cent per API call and select from multiple service providers in real time. The network includes more than 50 providers such as Dune Analytics, Nansen, Helius, and Alchemy.

The Solana Foundation said the system supports rapid microtransactions, allowing agents to optimize costs by paying only for usage instead of monthly plans. Google Cloud runs the backend infrastructure handling API routing and payment execution.

Industry representatives said the model could shift how software services are consumed, especially as AI systems increasingly act independently in digital environments.

The launch follows similar efforts by Coinbase to build payment infrastructure for AI-driven commerce using crypto rails.
