Ethereum Plans December 3 Fusaka Upgrade with PeerDAS

Ethereum-Sets-December-3-for-Fusaka-Upgrade-Introduces-PeerDAS-Scaling

Catenaa, Saturday, November 08, 2025- Ethereum developers have scheduled the Fusaka upgrade for December 3, following a successful final testnet, marking a major step toward faster, cheaper layer-2 transactions.

The upgrade introduces PeerDAS, a new data-sampling method that expands blob space in each block, allowing layer-2 networks to process more transactions at lower cost.

Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin described PeerDAS as “the key to layer-2 scaling,” emphasizing its role in Ethereum’s long-term goal of global adoption as a settlement layer.

Fusaka builds on the 2024 Dencun upgrade, which first implemented blobs to temporarily store layer-2 data, reducing gas fees and transaction times.

The expansion under Fusaka aims to make layer-2 activity even more efficient, potentially driving near-zero costs for high-volume transactions.

Developers conducted a third and final testnet run this week, after previous trials on the Holesky, Sepolia, and Hoodi networks, all of which cleared without issues.

The mainnet launch is expected to proceed as planned, though market impact on Ethereum’s price remains uncertain. ETH has fallen 2.3% this week to $3,760, despite previous gains following the February Pectra upgrade.

The Fusaka update underscores Ethereum’s continued focus on scalability and user experience. Community anticipation is high, with users noting the potential for widespread adoption of layer-2 networks once transaction efficiency improves.
