CATENAA, Wednesday, November 12, 2025- Coinbase has launched a new savings account for UK customers, offering 3.75% variable interest and full Financial Services Compensation Scheme protection on deposits up to £85,000.
The product, powered by ClearBank, allows instant deposits and withdrawals in British pounds, with no minimum balance or lockup period. Coinbase said the feature will initially roll out to select users starting Nov. 11 and expand nationwide in the coming weeks.
The company said the Coinbase Savings Account aims to bridge digital assets and traditional banking by combining its crypto exchange services with interest-bearing fiat savings. It builds on Coinbase’s growing suite of UK financial offerings, including its debit card and stablecoin features.
Coinbase UK CEO Keith Grose said the account was designed to meet local financial needs while positioning Coinbase as the country’s leading financial app. Product lead Mitesh Savjani said it represents a step toward integrating crypto with mainstream finance.
The move follows Coinbase securing Virtual Asset Service Provider registration from the Financial Conduct Authority earlier this year, solidifying its status as the UK’s largest registered crypto exchange.
However, Coinbase continues to face regulatory scrutiny. Its UK arm was fined $4.5 million by the FCA in 2024, and its Irish subsidiary was penalized $24.7 million last week for anti-money laundering breaches.
