Catenaa, Friday, November 21, 2025- Telenor is merging its Nordic IoT operations under Telenor Connexion as part of a push to become a top five global provider outside China.
The reorganisation aims to increase scale and accelerate growth across automotive, manufacturing, and smart city sectors.
The move combines Telenor’s Norwegian and Finnish IoT businesses, transferring millions of managed connections and recurring revenue to Connexion, which currently handles about 25 million connections and posted $30 million in Q3 revenue.
Two new legal entities in Norway and Finland will operate alongside Connexion to maintain local services and grow Nordic IoT operations.
Telenor Connexion will serve as the central technology and competence hub, overseeing global connectivity and innovation.
Local operations will continue focusing on mission-critical solutions and nationally anchored services, ensuring close collaboration with Connexion.
Industry analysts note the consolidation strengthens Telenor’s position in the global managed IoT market, projected to reach $30 billion by 2030 outside China.
Telenor already ranks among top-tier IoT providers, and the integration is expected to improve scale and competitiveness.
Dan Ouchterlony, head of Telenor Amp, said the consolidation creates a stronger platform to serve Nordic and international customers, while Mats Lundquist, CEO of Telenor Connexion, emphasized ongoing investment in local markets.
Analysts describe the reorganisation as a logical step to leverage Connexion’s technology lead while addressing the scale gap compared with larger global competitors.
