Nokia Secures 5G Contracts With Telefónica Germany and NTT DOCOMO

Catenaa, Monday, December 1, 2025-  Nokia has won major 5G contracts with Telefónica Germany and Japan’s NTT DOCOMO, reinforcing its mobile operations amid market pressure.

The deals highlight Nokia’s AirScale portfolio and network automation solutions.

The Telefónica Germany contract is a five-year extension focused on upgrading the operator’s 5G network. Nokia will provide AirScale RAN equipment, including Habrok Massive MIMO radios for the n78 spectrum band, Pandion multi-band remote radio heads, and AirScale Radio small cell solutions.

The agreement underscores Telefónica’s reliance on Nokia’s anyRAN software, AirScale baseband, and autonomous network platforms to enhance performance, efficiency, and customer experience.

In Japan, NTT DOCOMO will integrate Nokia’s MantaRay SON (self-organizing network) technology into its multi-vendor 5G infrastructure.

The system is designed to accelerate quality improvement cycles, reduce operational costs, and strengthen open RAN interfaces.

The move aims to advance network automation while improving service quality for DOCOMO’s customers.

Nokia expects both projects to strengthen long-term relationships with global operators and demonstrate the value of automated 5G network solutions in supporting efficiency and enhanced user experience.
