CATENAA, Tuesday, November 25, 2025-Africa’s largest mobile service providerMTN has partnered with Microsoft to bring 365 Copilot AI tools to its 300 million customers, aiming to enhance productivity and learning across its markets.
The rollout is set to begin in select African countries in early 2026, targeting MTN’s 165.8 million active data users.
The collaboration is framed as expanding access to AI-powered services while strengthening MTN’s ecosystem and giving Microsoft local market reach.
Executives said the initiative could open new avenues for digital participation, innovation, and economic engagement across the continent.
MTN’s latest quarterly report highlighted strong growth, with group service revenue, including hyperinflation effects, rising to R160.4 billion ($9.4 billion) in the first nine months, up from R127.4 billion a year ago.
The company’s data revenue grew 40.3%, driven by 9.1% growth in active data subscriptions.
MTN said these users will now have access to Microsoft’s latest AI tools through 365 Copilot, though analysts noted public opinion on AI-infused productivity apps remains mixed.
Executives emphasized that the partnership aligns with Africa’s broader digital growth trajectory, enabling MTN customers to learn, create, and participate more fully in the continent’s evolving digital economy.
