Catenaa, Friday, December 19, 2025- Spanish telecom operator MasOrange has partnered with Ericsson to expand automation across its radio access network, marking a step toward more autonomous and energy-efficient mobile operations.
Ericsson said MasOrange is using its Intelligent Automation Platform alongside a suite of RAN automation applications to increase network optimisation and operational efficiency.
The platform is designed to integrate with existing commercial networks through Ericsson’s network management system and is currently being used in a trial environment.
As part of the deployment, MasOrange is using the Ericsson Cell Anomaly Detector, which enables proactive identification of network performance issues and reduces the time and expertise needed to manage complex radio networks.
Another application, the Future Connections Nix RAN Energy Saver, dynamically configures and monitors energy-saving features to improve network efficiency without degrading service quality.
The collaboration reflects a broader industry push toward higher levels of automation as operators manage denser networks and rising data demand.
Automation is increasingly viewed as essential for improving service reliability while containing costs and energy use.
Ericsson said the project also demonstrates support for more open network environments, noting that its platform can accommodate third-party automation applications.
The approach aligns with longer-term goals around Open RAN, where operators seek greater flexibility to combine technologies from multiple vendors.
MasOrange is among several European operators exploring advanced automation to streamline operations as 5G networks mature.
