Deutsche Telekom Deploys AI System for Emergency Trauma Care

Catenaa, Sunday, December 21, 2025- Deutsche Telekom is developing an artificial intelligence system designed to support medical teams in trauma rooms, reports said.

This positions AI as a critical tool in emergency care where speed and accuracy can mean the difference between life and death.

The German telecoms group said it is working with the Fraunhofer Institute for Intelligent Analysis and Information Systems and Merheim Hospital in Cologne to build a real-time display system powered by AI agents.

The system records conversations among medical staff during emergency treatment, extracts relevant information and organises it according to clinical priority.

The AI continuously updates a visual dashboard and feeds data into treatment documentation, allowing trauma teams to track patient status without interrupting care.

Deutsche Telekom said the system follows the ABCDE protocol used in emergency medicine, covering airways, breathing, circulation, neurological status and additional observations.

The aim is to reduce cognitive load on medical staff, limit errors and improve decision-making during high-pressure situations.

The system is designed to comply with European data protection rules and can operate either in the cloud or locally on servers without an internet connection, allowing use in environments with limited connectivity.

The project comes as Deutsche Telekom also expands its broader AI ambitions.

The company has entered a strategic partnership with OpenAI to develop multilingual AI applications for customers and employees, with pilot projects expected to launch in early 2026.
