Catenaa, Thursday, November 27, 2025- AT&T and its partner Boldyn Networks have activated 5G service along the G line of New York City’s subway, covering nine stations between Court Square in Queens and Bedford–Nostrand Avenue in Brooklyn.
The launch allows AT&T customers to access high-speed 5G connectivity in tunnels for the first time, part of a broader initiative to provide comprehensive underground coverage across the city.
The expansion follows previous activations on the Joralemon Street tunnel and Manhattan’s 42nd Street Shuttle line, which was the first subway stretch to achieve full coverage.
AT&T executives said the move enhances the transit experience, enabling reliable connectivity for video streaming, communications, and online services underground.
Boldyn Networks, which absorbed Transit Wireless, continues to deploy infrastructure for all three major U.S. carriers throughout the subway system.
While AT&T highlights its progress on the G line, the infrastructure also supports customers of other operators in select tunnels, and analysts expect Verizon and T-Mobile US to expand coverage in the coming months.
Officials said the project leverages collaboration with the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) and Boldyn Networks to ensure seamless network performance, bringing the city closer to fully connected subway transit.
AT&T emphasized that these upgrades reinforce its position in urban 5G deployment and strengthen service offerings for commuters who rely on continuous connectivity underground.
