Amazon Leo Launches Ultra-Fast LEO Satellite Customer Terminal

Catenaa, Sunday, November 30, 2025-Amazon has unveiled its new Leo Ultra antenna, marking the next step in its commercial low-Earth orbit (LEO) satellite network, formerly known as Project Kuiper.

The enterprise preview offers download speeds up to 1 Gbps and upload speeds of 400 Mbps using full-duplex phased array connections. Full commercial rollout is expected in 2026.

The terminal supports two primary private networking solutions. Direct to AWS allows customers to connect directly to cloud workloads via AWS Transit Gateway or Direct Connect Gateway, reducing latency and simplifying network management.

Private Network Interconnect enables enterprises and telecom providers to establish direct links between remote sites and core networks at major colocation facilities, deploying private networking within days.

Chris Weber, Amazon Leo VP for consumer and enterprise business, highlighted the system’s focus on high-performance phased array antennas and satellite-network design, aimed at complex business and government operations in challenging environments worldwide.

Amazon Leo’s launch positions it as a competitor to Starlink in the enterprise satellite communications market, offering near-gigabit speeds and private connectivity solutions.

The rollout targets enterprises that require low-latency cloud access and secure private networking in locations where conventional terrestrial infrastructure is limited or unavailable.

The introduction of Leo Ultra underscores Amazon’s commitment to expanding commercial LEO satellite services beyond its incubation phase.

With full commercial operations anticipated next year, the initiative aims to enhance remote connectivity, accelerate cloud integration for enterprises, and broaden the availability of private satellite networks globally.
