Catenaa, Friday, November 21, 2025- Qualcomm has unveiled the Dragonwing IQ-X processor, targeting industrial PCs, edge controllers, human-machine interfaces, and programmable logic controllers.
The chip combines high performance and durability for factory floor and edge deployments.
Built on Qualcomm’s Oryon architecture, the Dragonwing IQ-X offers strong single- and multithread processing suitable for demanding industrial applications. It is ruggedized to withstand extreme temperatures and industrial environments.
The processor delivers 45 TOPS (tera operations per second), matching Qualcomm’s flagship Snapdragon X Elite laptop chip, enabling AI workloads such as predictive maintenance, defect detection, and condition-based monitoring.
A number of industrial OEMs, including Advantech, Congatec, Nexcom, Portwell, Seco, and Tria, have already announced plans to integrate the Dragonwing IQ-X into new products.
Qualcomm says the chip provides a simplified platform for original equipment manufacturers and designers, helping reduce development complexity and time to market.
The launch is part of Qualcomm’s wider industrial and IoT strategy. The company acquired Arduino last month, producing open-source microcontrollers, and previously bought Edge Impulse and Foundries.io to expand software tools and cloud-native platforms for IoT and edge applications.
Qualcomm aims for $14 billion in annual IoT revenue by fiscal 2029, with $4 billion expected from the industrial sector.
