Bezos Launches $6.2B AI Venture Prometheus

Jeff Bezos announces the launch of Project Prometheus, a $6.2B AI start-up

Catenaa, Sunday, November 23, 2025- Jeff Bezos is taking a formal operational role in a new artificial intelligence start-up, Project Prometheus, where he will serve as co-chief executive.

The company, backed by $6.2 billion in funding including Bezos’ own investment, aims to develop AI for engineering and manufacturing in sectors ranging from computers to aerospace and automobiles.

Bezos’ co-CEO is Vik Bajaj, a physicist and chemist formerly affiliated with Google X and Verily, who brings experience in moonshot projects and AI start-ups.

Project Prometheus has already hired nearly 100 employees, many from top AI firms including OpenAI, DeepMind, and Meta.

The company’s technology will focus on AI systems that learn from physical-world experiments, expanding beyond the digital-only learning of large language models.

The start-up enters a crowded market where tech giants such as Google, Meta, Microsoft, and established AI developers including OpenAI and Anthropic are racing to apply AI in physical sciences, robotics, and scientific discovery.

Other new entrants, such as Periodic Labs, are pursuing similar approaches, combining AI with robotics to accelerate research in physics, chemistry, and life sciences.

While details on Project Prometheus’ headquarters or launch timeline remain unclear, the scale of funding positions the company for rapid growth.

Analysts say the start-up could gain a competitive advantage by leveraging its capital to attract top talent and invest in advanced AI research.

Bezos’ involvement marks his first operational role in a company since stepping down as Amazon CEO in 2021, signaling a deep personal commitment to the AI sector.
