Catenaa, Monday, November 10, 2025- Huawei has climbed to third place in China’s smartphone market for the third quarter of 2025, shipping 10.4 million units and surpassing Xiaomi, which sold roughly 10 million devices.
According to IDC, vivo leads the market with 11.8 million shipments and a 17.2% share, while Apple holds second place with 10.8 million sales, accounting for 15.8% of the market.
Huawei, with 15.2% market share, has focused on high-end devices like the Mate 70 Air, aiming to challenge Apple’s iPhone series. Plans for the Mate 80 series signal the company’s intent to further compete in the premium segment.
Xiaomi, ranked fourth, saw a 1.7% decline in year-over-year shipments, reflecting intensifying competition and changing consumer preferences.
OPPO and Honor followed in fifth place. The total Chinese smartphone market reached 68.46 million units, marking a slight 0.5% year-over-year drop, typical for the third quarter’s slower sales season.
Analysts attribute the slowdown to limited new product launches and reduced Chinese subsidies, which have encouraged more cautious consumer spending.
However, expectations are high for Q4 growth ahead of the annual 11.11 shopping festival, when aggressive promotions and new releases typically boost sales.
Huawei’s performance demonstrates a steady recovery in domestic sales after past challenges and positions the company as a serious competitor to both Apple and vivo in China’s lucrative smartphone sector.
