Fetch.ai Plans AI Agents to Complete Purchases With Payments

Catenaa, Thursday, December 25, 2025- Fetch.ai announced plans to launch a payment system in January 2026 that allows its autonomous AI agents to execute purchases, deposits, and bookings on behalf of users.
The platform addresses a major barrier in agentic AI, which can suggest products or services but typically cannot complete transactions due to security and regulatory concerns.

The system, hosted on Fetch.ai’s ASI:ONE platform, integrates with existing financial networks, including Visa, using temporary single-use credentials for specific transactions.

Mastercard support is expected later. Agents can process both traditional card payments and on-chain transactions with USDC or Fetch.ai’s FET token, while avoiding direct bank transfers to reduce regulatory complexity.

Fetch.ai said its agents have already completed live tests, booking restaurant reservations and paying deposits autonomously.

Each agent operates with a persistent, identifiable user or business identity, ensuring transparency and compliance. Offline agents can receive messages and complete pending actions once reconnected.

The platform is designed to give users and businesses full control over their agents, allowing self-hosting rather than relying on centralized infrastructure. The system aims to enable seamless, AI-driven commerce while maintaining trust, security, and regulatory oversight.

The rollout follows industry concerns about automated shopping tools. For example, Amazon recently challenged bots disguised as human shoppers. Fetch.ai’s design emphasizes clear identity and user accountability to prevent misuse.
