Catenaa, Wednesday, October 01, 2025-Ripple’s Chief Technology Officer David Schwartz said he will leave his post at the end of the year, ending a role he held for more than a decade.
Schwartz, who played a central role in coding the XRP ledger, confirmed his decision in a social media post Tuesday.
While stepping down as CTO, he plans to remain connected to Ripple by joining the board of directors and maintaining an advisory presence.
He has been with Ripple for over 13 years, serving as chief cryptographer before becoming CTO seven years ago. During his tenure, Ripple introduced multiple products, including a stablecoin launched in late 2024.
Schwartz was regarded inside the company and by the wider crypto sector as one of the most influential architects of XRP’s development.
Ripple executives said his departure marks the end of an era but stressed that his continued involvement on the board would help ensure continuity.
The move comes as Ripple faces ongoing regulatory scrutiny in the United States while pursuing global expansion.
Industry analysts said the transition highlights Ripple’s effort to balance leadership changes with long-term stability in its technology roadmap.
The company views Schwartz’s board role as a way to retain institutional knowledge during a period of heightened competition in blockchain payments.
Schwartz said he intends to dedicate more time to personal life while maintaining ties to the XRP community, signaling that his influence on Ripple’s direction will continue.
