AI Boom Fuels 40% Growth in Data Centre Market

AI boom drives data centre growth

Catenaa, Sunday, December 28, 2025-Global revenue for data centre server and storage components surged 40% year-on-year in Q3, fueled by demand for AI accelerators, according to Dell’Oro.

High-bandwidth memory, network interface cards, and storage drives all saw increased uptake as hyperscale and cloud providers expanded AI infrastructure.

Nvidia led growth with its Blackwell Ultra accelerator ramp, supported by deployments at major hyperscalers including Google and Amazon.

Custom AI accelerators for training and inference of foundational models contributed to rising component demand. Agreements with Anthropic and Meta further boosted shipments.

General-purpose server and storage demand also remained strong, supporting CPU, NIC, and storage drive deployments.

SK Hynix and Samsung benefited from higher HBM, DRAM, and SSD demand, maintaining momentum alongside Nvidia’s lead.

The enterprise segment shows signs of slowing after recent server refresh cycles but is not expected to derail market growth.

For 2025, Dell’Oro forecasts total server and storage component revenue to rise 48%, with continued growth expected in 2026 through new offerings from Nvidia, AMD, Google, and Amazon.

AI infrastructure projects are accelerating, including Hut 8’s partnership with Fluidstack and Anthropic to deliver up to 2,295 megawatts of power for AI data centres, with 245 MW expected online by early 2027.

Bell also announced plans to build an AI data centre for Queen’s University in Quebec.

Investor appetite remains strong despite cautionary voices about AI hype.

The proliferation of AI-related data centre projects and significant funding underscores continued confidence in long-term growth for servers, storage, and supporting components.
