Tether backs €70 million round for Italian industrial humanoid robots

Catenaa, Thursday, December 11, 2025- Tether joined a €70 million funding round for Generative Bionics, a new Italian firm developing humanoid robots for high risk industrial work.

The round included AMD Ventures and Italy’s state Artificial Intelligence Fund. The year old company was formed out of research at the Italian Institute of Technology.

Generative Bionics is building “Physical AI” units designed to move in spaces built for people.

The machines will handle lifting, hauling and repetitive labor in factories and logistics centers. The company plans early deployment programs in 2026 across manufacturing, logistics, healthcare and retail.

Tether described the investment as part of a wider move toward digital and physical infrastructure. The stablecoin issuer has funded internal AI projects and taken stakes in bitcoin mining operations.

The deal follows reports that Tether held talks to invest in Neura Robotics in Germany this year.

The investment comes after S&P Global cut a stability score for USDT due to what the agency called growing exposure to bitcoin and other holdings with limited public data.

Tether disputed the view and said the scoring model did not reflect recent rules.

Robotics firms in Europe and Asia have drawn growing interest as industrial suppliers look for ways to reduce worker injuries and manage labor shortages.

Generative Bionics said early testing will focus on tasks that cannot be handled by fixed robotic arms or simple automated systems.
