Sei Urges USDC.n Holders to Swap Before Upgrade

USDC.n swap before Sei upgrade

Catenaa, Thursday, January 15, 2026-Crypto project Sei is warning holders of the legacy USDC.n stablecoin to convert to the network’s native USDC ahead of a planned upgrade in March that will deprecate older assets.

USDC.n, also called USDC via Noble, was originally issued by Circle on the Noble blockchain and bridged to Sei. Until Circle deployed USDC natively on Sei, USDC.n served as the primary version of the stablecoin on the network.

The project said roughly $1.4 million remains in circulation, down from prior levels, as users gradually swap to Sei’s canonical USDC.

Sei’s upcoming SIP-3 upgrade will transition the network exclusively to an EVM-compatible chain, retiring CosmWasm and Cosmos-native assets.

The project warned that USDC.n could become inaccessible or lose value following the update.

For smaller conversions, Sei recommended using DragonSwap or Symphony. Larger holders were advised to use a batching tool on Brr that moves assets from Noble to Polygon before returning them to Sei via Circle’s CCTP.

Noble is a Cosmos-backed appchain focused on issuing native assets within the Cosmos/IBC ecosystem. It has facilitated stablecoin deployments for Circle, Hashnote Labs, Monerium, and Ondo Finance.

Circle Ventures invested in Sei in late 2023, making it a primary deployment channel for USDC on Cosmos-based chains. Last year, Noble also launched the USDN stablecoin through the upstart project M^0.

Sei’s guidance aims to ensure holders preserve access to their stablecoins before the network’s upgrade.
