Catenaa, Saturday, October 11, 2025- MetaMask, the popular Web3 wallet developed by Consensys, announced it will launch an onchain rewards program in the coming weeks, distributing over $30 million in LINEA tokens during its first season.
The program, shared on X Saturday, will include referral bonuses, mUSD incentives, exclusive partner rewards, and early access to tokens.
MetaMask emphasized that long-time users will receive special benefits, and that the rewards program will have links to its upcoming MASK token.
LINEA, the native token of the Ethereum Layer 2 network Linea, was launched in September with a 9.4 billion token airdrop.
MetaMask described the initiative as a community-focused rewards system rather than a yield farming play. While participation rules are not fully detailed, the program is expected to incentivize engagement across Ethereum and Linea networks.
It remains unclear whether users in certain jurisdictions will face restrictions or if anti-Sybil measures will be implemented.
The MASK token, revealed by Ethereum co-founder and Consensys CEO Joseph Lubin in September, is designed to decentralize certain aspects of the MetaMask platform.
MetaMask’s mUSD stablecoin, issued by Stripe-owned Bridge, currently has a circulating supply of $87.7 million and launched simultaneously on Ethereum and Linea.
The announcement has sparked mixed reactions on social media, with some users expressing skepticism about the program’s structure and intent.
MetaMask did not provide further comment beyond the X announcement.
