Brian Quintenz joins SUI board

Catenaa, Sunday, January 11, 2026-Former CFTC commissioner Brian Quintenz has joined the board of SUI Group Holdings, a Minnesota-based blockchain and institutional finance company, the firm announced Tuesday.

The appointment, effective January 5, places Quintenz in a corporate governance role as an independent director.

He will also serve on the board’s audit committee. With his addition, SUI Group’s board now has five members, three of whom meet Nasdaq independence requirements. As of November, the company held roughly 108 million SUI tokens in its treasury.

SUI Group said Quintenz brings regulatory experience, capital markets knowledge, and expertise in blockchain infrastructure. The company aims to leverage his background to advance its treasury strategy and strengthen institutional adoption of SUI.

Quintenz’s move follows several private sector roles after his nomination to chair the CFTC was withdrawn last fall. He joined Ubyx as an advisor and serves on the board of Kalshi, a CFTC-regulated prediction markets platform valued at $11 billion in December.

His CFTC chair nomination faced scrutiny over potential conflicts of interest and lobbying ties. Two scheduled committee votes were canceled before the White House withdrew his nomination. Michael Selig was later confirmed as CFTC chair in December.

The SUI Group appointment signals Quintenz’s continued shift from public service to advisory and governance roles in the digital asset sector.
