BNP Paribas tests tokenized fund on Ethereum

Catenaa, Sunday, March 01, 2026-BNP Paribas Asset Management is testing a blockchain-based issuance of tokenized shares for a French-domiciled money market fund on Ethereum, marking its latest step into onchain finance within a regulated framework.

The pilot, conducted using the firm’s AssetFoundry platform, issues a tokenized share class under a permissioned access model. Holdings and transfers are restricted to eligible and authorized participants in line with regulatory requirements.

The initiative was structured as a limited intra-group experiment to assess end-to-end processes, including issuance, transfer agency, tokenization and connectivity to a public blockchain.

BNP Paribas Asset Management acted as the fund issuer, while BNP Paribas Securities Services served as transfer agent and dealer.

The company said the test was designed to evaluate operational efficiency and security while maintaining compliance controls.

The move follows a prior collaboration with Allfunds Blockchain on what was described as the first natively tokenized money market fund.

BNP Paribas is also participating in experiments linking the Swift financial messaging network to Ethereum Layer 2 Linea and in discussions with major banks on potential stablecoin issuance.

The pilot reflects continued efforts by established financial institutions to integrate blockchain infrastructure into regulated investment products while limiting access to approved market participants.
